i still have a blog. been more interested in getting the mntrs blog up and running lately.
to summarize the rest of snowboarding (since this was one of the reasons i started this thing),
i got back to northstar for four more days which got my days of using the pass up to 13 days. which gets me down to $33/day ($429/13). and then we did a trip to oregon. got in a beautiful day of riding at timberline. so, total days of riding this season was 25. not great, but all quality days for the most part.
Rode Northstar with Ian over the weekend. Got in a full day of riding on Saturday. It was nice to see the Superpipe finally cut and open. Rode the park and hit the pipe every run except for the a couple in the Stash. As with spring conditions it was icy in the morning and mashed potatoes by early afternoon. We stopped to watch some of the pond skimming competition which was pretty entertaining. We rode till the end of the day on Saturday. Didn’t notice anything until I got done riding, but my deck (the T6) looked a little warped. The next day on the first run, ollied into the superpipe and it instantly became a wet noodle. Took it off and lightly flexed it and noticed the deck had already snapped. Crazy stuff. We’ll see what Burton says when I try to warranty it. Haven’t broken a deck in a couple of years, but they were pretty good about it before.
Days on the Pass: 8 & 9 ($429/9 = $47.67/day)
Days Riding the season: 19 & 20
Can’t remember that its almost end of the season and I just hit 20 days. Pretty bad.
After another two weekend break, I got up to Northstar and got in some spring riding with Chuck. A bit icy to start out the day, but softened up after about an hour. Got in some good runs in the park and the Stash. Superpipe was closed which was a bummer. They hit dirt when they were cutting it.
Days on the Pass: 7 ($429/7 = $61.28/day)
Days Riding the season: 18
Went to Northstar & Boreal on Sunday. Didn’t seem to notice losing the extra hour of sleep with daylight savings since I was waking up in the dark anyway. I had planned on just lapping the Superpipe at Northstar, but there was a USASA Pipe comp that day. Kind of a bummer and the place was packed with groms in bibs. Took 5 runs and bailed for Boreal.
Paid $47 for a lift ticket at Boreal. Got up to the top and the Pipe was closed because of the snowfall earlier in the week. Slackers. The park was nicely groomed, so I lapped that
all day. Its amazing how many runs that you can get in in that little place. No lift lines at all. Reminded me of Tyrol back home.
As with the Mt. Spokane / Salmo sessions, this is being counted as two days (or sessions) of riding.
No Pictures this time.
Days on the Pass: 6 ($429/6 = $71.50/day)
Days Riding the season: 16 & 17
Got up to Northstar with Chuck & Ian. First day of riding together since we got back from Baldface. Pouring rain on the drive all the way up from San Francisco. Got to Northstar by 9:00. Saw about 10miin of sun, then it got cloudy and began to snow up top. A bit windy, but we had fun playing around in The Stash. Also took the first superpipe runs of the season. Yay! I can’t remember being so nervous to drop into a pipe in a lone time. Maybe because its a late start or because I’m 31 years old now. And the lighting was flat, windy, with some blowing snow. Not ideal for pipe riding. But still fun. By about 1:00 it started raining at the lower part of the mountain and it was crazy windy up to. So we were out. Fun day of riding as always. Looking forward to getting back into the pipe and park as the conditions become better for it. But I’m not going to complain about the new snow that will hopefully prolong the season.
Days on the Pass: 5 ($429/5 = $85.80/day)
Overall Days Riding this season: 15
